The Shetland Sheepdog should stand between 13 and 16 inches at
the shoulder. (average weight 20 pounds)
The first Shetland Sheepdog registered by the American Kennel
Club (1911) was Lord Scott, a sable imported from Shetland, Scotland
by John G. Sherman, Jr. of New York.
A total of 46 Shelties appeared in the Stud Book through the 1918
issue (reporting on 1917 shows.) Half of the dogs were tricolors.
11 registrations (less than a quarter of the total) were sable,
with and without white. The remainder included 8 black and whites,
3 black and tans, and one blue, tan and white.
